The Leader’s Digital Twin
What it is
The Leader’s Digital Twin is the practice of building a persistent proxy of a leader’s judgement, values and voice, on purpose, over time, with governance. Corpus is what the twin ingests: the working set of speeches, memos, drafts, decisions and the rationales written at the time, not a tidy collection of best output. Curriculum is deliberate training on the leader’s patterns: corrections to others’ drafts, overrides on AI output, the not good enough notes that show how the leader evaluates rather than what the leader produces. Contract is the governance layer: a purpose line, a boundary line, an override line.

Why it happens with AI
Every leader is training a twin already. Each prompt is a fragment of how the leader frames problems; each accepted output is a vote for that style under their name. Two failure modes follow without the Discipline. The accidental twin drifts to a slightly smoothed, slightly more polite version of the leader, week by week, until colleagues stop being able to tell whether the leader wrote a thing or approved one. The abandoned twin is built well for three months, then quietly absorbed into someone else’s product roadmap when the leader changes platform.
What working on it does, impact and benefits
Practising the Discipline produces an artefact a generic model cannot reproduce: a written record of how this specific leader decides, governed by the leader, available when the leader cannot be in the loop. The immediate benefit is the surfacing of how thin the leader’s own written record of judgement is, uncomfortable and useful. The longer-run benefit is leverage that scales beyond the leader’s hours.

“Every leader is training a digital twin already; the discipline is whether the one you end up with represents you or a generic version of you.” — Viren Lall, Managing Director, ChangeSchool LDN (2026).
